Frequently Asked Questions
Gold for Good is a community partnership between Bogart’s Jewellers and Home Again Furniture Bank. We collect unwanted scrap gold and sterling silver jewellery, assess its precious metal value, and donate 100% of the proceeds to Home Again to help furnish homes for local families in need.
We accept gold of any karat (10k, 14k, 18k, 24k), gold-plated items, .925 sterling silver, and pure silver. This includes broken or tangled chains, single or mismatched earrings, bent rings, old pendants, and outdated pieces.
No. Pieces are evaluated based on their metal content and weight, not their aesthetic condition. Broken, damaged, or tangled items are just as valuable for this drive as wearable jewellery.
We cannot accept non-precious metals or costume jewellery made of brass, copper, bronze, pewter, aluminium, stainless steel, or titanium. We also do not accept items with silver-plated stamps (such as EPNS, Silver Plate, or Quadruple Plate) or loose imitation stones like cubic zirconia.
Donations can be dropped off at any Bogart’s Jewellers retail location. Employees of workplace partners may drop off on November 13. For more information or to register your workplace please call Sonya at 709 325 0072 or sonyasmith@homeagainfb.com
Every donor receives a Golden Ticket entry into our grand prize draw. Bogart’s Jewellers will provide a grand prize gift card equal to 10% of the total scrap metal value raised throughout the entire campaign (for example, if the campaign raises $20,000, the winner receives a $2,000 Bogart's gift card). Certain restrictions will apply. Mail-in ballots can also be filled out here.
The final day for donations is November 13, with the official grand prize draw taking place immediately following final tallies.
No purchase or donation is required to enter or win. Entrants can submit an alternative mail-in entry in accordance with the official contest rules. Selected entrants must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question before being awarded the prize.
One hundred percent of the assessed scrap metal value directly funds Home Again’s operations, covering the logistics, transport, and delivery of essential furniture such as beds, dressers, and dining sets, free of charge to individuals and families transitioning out of hardship across the Northeast Avalon.
