Bogart’s Jewellers is a proud Canadian, locally owned and operated jewellery store based right here in Newfoundland and Labrador. Since opening our doors in 1992, we have remained deeply rooted in our province, expanding to serve our communities across seven convenient locations across the island from St. John's to Corner Brook.

Driven by a simple mission to provide exceptional jewellery and service for the most significant moments in your life, we remain a family-run business that treats every customer like one of our own.

We're proud to offer a wide selection of engagement rings and fine jewellery to customers all across the province. With several on-site jewellers, we also provide expert jewellery repair services, custom jewellery design, and more.

Our Founder: Richard Rooney

Our founder, Richard Rooney, began his journey in the jewellery industry at the age of 22. After moving to Newfoundland in 1979, he started his career as a watch salesman and brand representative for companies like Wenger Watch Company (Cardinal and Swank watches), Spiedel, Shaeffer, Majorca pearls, and Carmen Jewellery.

By the mid-1980s, Richard launched his own wholesale business, Atlantic Jewellers. During his time as a travelling wholesale salesperson, a supplier informed him that the retail chain O.B. Allan was closing its doors. Seeing an opportunity to expand into the retail market, Richard purchased one of the O.B. Allan locations in the Avalon Mall to launch his own business: Bogart's Jewellers.

Richard’s natural passion for craftsmanship and dedication to client care laid the foundation for what Bogart’s is today. His philosophy has always been centered on relationships, prioritizing the memory of every client's unique style and preferences. This commitment to personalized service is instilled in every member of the Bogart’s staff, ensuring your experience is as unique as the jewellery you choose.

The Next Generation: AJ Rooney

The Rooney family legacy continues with Richard’s son, AJ Rooney, who brings a high level of technical expertise to the business. AJ is a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.) Carlsbad Campus, where he also completed the Graduate Pearls Program.

Following his gemology studies, AJ earned a CAD/CAM Certificate from G.I.A.’s New York Campus, specializing in computer-aided design. Combining his business background from Memorial University with his wealth of industry knowledge, AJ and Richard form a team that blends decades of traditional industry wisdom with modern innovation. This father-son partnership ensures that while we honour our 30-year history, we are constantly evolving to meet the needs of the modern jewellery collector.

Since opening our very first location in the heart of the bustling Avalon Mall back in 1992, Bogart’s Jewellers has proudly and successfully expanded its presence across the province.
